I recently noted an article in our local paper and it was very appropriate for this national holiday. The article tells of a veteran’s journey to reconnect with his brother Jeff, who died in Vietnam, and ultimately to meet up with the man who killed him. The article is here.
I had the honor of interviewing Jedwin Smith for my Curious Mind podcast a few years ago about his journey, which he has chronicled in his book, “Our Brother’s Keeper: My Family’s Journey through Vietnam to Hell and Back”. It is a moving story of sacrifice in time of war, both for the warrior and his family. The interview was one of the most difficult I’ve ever done, but I’m so happy to have recorded this for posterity.
The podcast is about an hour long and is broken down into three segments for easier downloading. It’s a gripping story of how war can break apart families and then bring them back together again. How even in the end, you can make peace with an old enemy.
