Bitter Magic News!

It is with great glee I can announce that the ninth book in the Demon Trappers series (BITTER MAGIC) will launch on September 24th! It will be available in ebook format on Amazon, Kobo, Apple and GooglePlay. Amazon will also have a print edition.

The book right before this, LOST SOULS (Demon Trappers #8), was published in Dec. 2021, right in the middle of the pandemic. It had been my plan to have BITTER MAGIC out in 2023, but some health issues kinda kicked that plan to the curb. (See my earlier blog posts on that issue).

“Chemo brain” as they call it—the effects of chemotherapy on one’s thought processes—is for real. Mine wasn’t as bad as some, but it still slowed down the writing process. Let’s just say there were a lot of naps taken in 2023. 😉

LOST SOULS was primarily Simon Adler's story and it introduced a new character, Journeyman Katia Breman. Katia was banished to Atlanta from her hometown in Kansas because of her “special” abilities. Like being able to spot angels on sight. Let’s face it, this trapper has issues. <Don’t we all?>

Thrown into the middle of an incredibly dangerous situation with Simon, Atlanta’s lay exorcist, Katia had no choice but to kick butt. And she did. Which brings us to BITTER MAGIC, which is her book.

Let’s face it, there are only so many stories you can write about Hell, fiends, and the Pit Boss (Lucifer) as Katia calls him. BITTER MAGIC is where the trappers’ world begins to change, and not for the better. I’d say more, but I don’t want to spoil it for you. 

Part of the catalyst for this new direction is the incredibly imaginative world found in the Kate Daniels series (Ilona Andrews). The authors, Ilona and Gordon, continually blow my mind. And, frankly, I wanted to liven things up in my trappers universe (insert evil laugh here).
 
I’ll be posting the first few chapters of the book on the blog so you can get a sense of what’s happening to our favorite characters. And yes, Riley and Beck are still doing their thing as our the summoners and the witches.
