A quick update on how things are going here. Trust me, it's good news. As I mentioned in the previous post there's been some health issues in my life recently (Non-Hodgkin Follicular Lymphoma.) I just finished my fourth "spa" treatment as I call them. Currently six immuno-chemotherapy sessions are planned, so hopefully I'm more than halfway through. So far I'm managed to avoid some of the nastier side effects of the kick-butt treatments, for which I am ENDLESSLY grateful. The nurses have been wonderful, my doctor has been very proactive. That's exactly what any patient needs. The first treatment took 6-1/2 hours because they were very careful to ensure I didn't react badly to any of the IV meds, all of which are incredibly nasty. I didn't, which totally rocked. Each session after that is about 4-1/2 hours. My only complaint (and this so very minor) is that the lounge chair I'm in is anything but comfortable. But if that's the most I can grumble about I'm in great shape, right? There was a six week break between the third and fourth treatment. We went on a mini vacation in Portugal during that time and I'll post more about that down the line, complete with pictures! The reason for the pause was that my hematologist wanted to wait four weeks to allow the meds to have maximum effect, then during the fifth week have a repeat PET-TAC scan to evaulate the effectiveness of the therapy. Then last week I had my most recent infusion. It usually takes a couple weeks until we see the results of the PET scan so I'm trying to be patient. I'm hoping the news is good, which my gut says might just be the case. In the meantime I've dealt with the internal adjustment needed for any cancer diagnosis, even one that is a "chronic" disease. I've gotten my head in the right place and now I'm back to writing in the afternoons as I'm fortunately not having "chemo brain" symptoms that many suffer from. Huzzah! I have more energy that I did before treatment began (yeah, that makes NO sense, but I'll go with it). Currently Bitter Magic (Demon Trappers #9) is rocking right along. I've FINALLY figured out the plot and it's getting there, scene by scene. It's a game changer, that's for sure. I'm aiming for publication sometime later this year and I think that's doable. I'll post more about other things going on here at our homestead, including that new construction project in our garden and anything else that might be of interest. In the meantime, thank you for all your concern and healing Light you've sent my way. You folks are a blessing! Have a grand summer and please get those routine medical checkups. They make all the difference. Oh, and here's a hint about Bitter Magic, just because I'm a tease. ;-)
