Denver Beck. This cover had to happen because this book is his story. For those who’ve read it, you know why. (Again, no spoilers in the comments please.) I sent my cover artist a photo of a model who fit my notion of what Den is like–a damaged young man who has immense courage and so much potential. Clarissa created this cover and I saw Beck anew. You might see him differently and I applaud that. Once a book is set loose in the world it takes on a life of its own, as do the characters. That is the true magic of the written word. Your Beck might not be my Beck, but we can all agree he is an amazing man who survived his hellish childhood to bring so much Light to the world. The back cover copy: Denver Beck knows his dark past must remain hidden if he ever hopes to become a master demon trapper. All that is in jeopardy when he returns home to face his dying mother. Despite her sadistic cruelty, Sadie Beck holds the greatest secret of all—the name of his father. But rural Georgia is much more than small towns, cottonfields and primordial swamps. Even with fellow trapper Riley Blackthorne watching his back, old enemies are eager to settle scores. His day of reckoning has come. Either Beck fights for his future, or his past will destroy him. Both Chapter 1 & 2 will be posted later today.
