I've been very quiet on this blog because lots of good things are happening. And with all good things, there's also frustrations, but that's life. So what's new? Let's dig in and see. Big Thing #1: All four of the original Demon Trappers books are now typeset (print and e-book), been through proofing and have new covers created by Clarissa Yeo (Yocla Designs). Clarissa created the covers for GRAVE MATTERS, MIND GAMES and VALIANT LIGHT so there will be *continuity* across the series now. Those new covers will be revealed starting in early November. Clarissa worked on these while dealing with the pandemic in Singapore, having to move apartments, etc. etc. She was an absolute trooper! It's always a joy to work with an incredibly talented artist. Big Thing #2: LOST SOULS will be out in early December. I've reread this book a number of times since it was completed and I truly love it. I'm hoping you do as well. Big Thing #3: I mentioned this on Facebook and then realized I hadn't posted it here -- we're moving! We really love Porto, but the endless construction (like the hotel and shopping plaza they're building right next door) makes for a lot of noise and dust. Good for the economy and jobs, difficult for those of us who loved the woods, birds and bats that used to live right under our window. Now almost all of the trees are gone. And we have no less than 7 constructions cranes within a block of our place (see photo below). Yeah, it's time to go. The Really Big Thing: We're buying a HOUSE! We fell in love with the Portuguese countryside (south of the city of Coimbra) and decided to move somewhere a LOT MORE QUIET. We'll have a garden! Being former Iowans, we're really looking forward to that. It'll get our butts off the couch and we both need the exercise. As with anything in Portugal, the house purchase has been slow going, which makes us Americans twitch. But it will happen and then we'll be able to relax. At this point almost all of our apartment is packed and ready for the move, we're that eager. We just need to sign the mortgage papers, get a Closing date and vamoose. Here's the view from the back of the house. Why do people always put electrical lines in the worst possible places? Here's the view from our apartment. The sharp-eyed will spot no less than 5 cranes (there's one in the lower left corner, as well.) Gee, I wonder why we're moving . . . Once we're settled in we'll be revealing the new covers, putting up sample chapters for each of those books and launching them. Same with LOST SOULS. Expect to see a lot more posts from me in the future, as well as some photos of the area around our new place. I can't wait to share it with you. Stay well! And now back to it. 9/22/2021 03:37:11 pm
